Patience Pays!

Ever been sidelined? How did you cope? Lessons from my 6 months off running and month off endurance exercise: Patience pays off. Here is how I made it (almost) through. Let me know how you motivated your down times.

  1. Set goals and then know that you are preparing for something. Cherish baby steps.

  2. Don’t gaze wistfully as others describe their races and PRs. Give encouragement and be happy for them. That means you 7 mile bridge and 5k runners last weekend!

  3. Have a full-on pity party, then move on. Literally. Walk, swim, lift, yoga, etc. It will speed your recovery and lift your mood.

  4. Cross train everything you can. Runners can be one dimensional.

  5. RICE – if you know, you KNOW!

  6. Hope for a 100% return, settle for anything that keeps you in the game.

  7. Join or stay in a friendly, inspiring, positive club. Yes!!!! WBRRC. Super happy to be here.
